Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! I’m Clay, and I am going to convey my understanding of the movie TOOTSIE. I’d like to throw light upon my perspective by citing some fragments of the movie with my own analysis. Are you ready? Here we go.
The title of my speech is PITH THAT LIFE REVEALS. Well, let’s move to the first part INTRODUCTION.
INTRODUCTION
For every individual, life is nothing more than a kaleidoscope. Lifestyles are diversified, especially in movies. TOOTSIE, typical as other fellow movies, takes on an exaggerated look of one’s life，which is mingled with various contradictions. Consistently as the climaxes emerge, we may tune in something which is elusive and subtle, and even must-be-cherished except laughter. What is the pith that life reveals? Let’s move to the second part FINDINGS & ANALYSIS.
FINDINGS & ANALYSIS
Pith 1: Passion adds wings to your career.
At the beginning of the movie, we can see that the hero suffered an unfavorable career period. It was just like a bottleneck，whatever he did，the results would always be downturned. Fortunately，he was such a drama-mania， and the precious spirit supported him，till reaching the peak of his career，overwhelming all the prejudice. As an old saying goes, “Interest is the best teacher” and passion is the pearl on the crown. If you crave a breakthrough or a triumph in your career, please spare no efforts to show your passion on it.
Pith 2: Irreplaceability makes you perfect.
I bet all of you laughed your heads off at the mere glimpse of our hero’s impersonation into Dorothy. Maybe it’s surprised to find that the pseudo-female role gave rise to a dramatic surge in the soap series ratio，but for me ,the result is doomed. The pseudo-female role is the one with feminine appearance and masculine thoughts in mind，which is distinctive among all others . Outstanding as it was, it injected something fresh into platitude. No doubt that the audience appealed to the pseudo-female role so much. From the phenomenon，conclusion can be safely drawn out，that is ，irreplaceability makes you perfect.
Pith 3：Dissimulation may trigger disaster, follow your heart，to be yourself truthfully.
Sometimes life is turbulent, sometimes life is mild. It always wears a mask, and you will never know what will happen on next stage. In order to cope with it and balance the reality and our dreams, we may sacrifice something for a struggle to certain extent but not all. Just like the dilemma Dorothy confronted in the movie, the pseudo-female role brought him popularity, money, and Juliet’s intimacy. But all in all, those didn’t belong to him in reality. Worse still, he was misunderstood by the people around him, sometimes a lesbian, sometimes gay, even two of his wooers took fierce actions to possess him. I can’t imagine what will happen if he goes on standing behind mask. So , I’d like to say, dissimulation may trigger disaster, follow your heart，to be yourself truthfully. Only in this way can we get to sense the essence of our life under the sun.
CONCLUSION
Where there are something complicated, there exists the true life. Due to the embarrassing, the tortured, the misunderstood and the suffering, the hues of our life enriched. If there were nothing out of estimation in our daily life, there would be no excuse for living. A heart which is afraid of breaking will never learn to dance; a dream which is afraid of waking, that never takes the chance; the one who won't be taken can not seem to give; and the soul which is afraid of dying, that never learns to live. Under no circumstances should we cheat ourselves and our life, as life never did it. Cherish every moment in your ephemeral life, the true process makes sense only.
