The film tells the story of a Chinese grandfather and an American grandson. In this film we can dig out a lot of details about cross-cultural communication. In the first half of the movie, sun tzu insists that spider-man is such a great hero that he even tries to imitate him by climbing a telephone pole. But because grandpa called sun wukong the great hero and spiderman the goblin, they had a conflict. As the movie goes on, we can see that there are many stories between grandpa and grandson, the most important is that they keep communicating with each other in the process, getting to know each other better bit by bit. Near the end of the movie, grandpa makes a shadow puppet of spider man for his grandson. The grandson listens to his grandfather more than ever and gets closer to him. This is actually a metaphor for the mutual acceptance of the grandson of American culture and the grandfather of Chinese culture. However, in addition to what I mentioned above, there are other similar details in this movie, such as learning languages with each other, eating foreign food and so on. It is not difficult to see that in the whole movie, grandpa and grandson are engaged in cross-cultural communication, and it is very important that they maintain sincere emotions. "Spider man and sun wukong will become good friends, not enemies." this grandpa said actually reflects that two people from different cultures should communicate friendly and become friends.
