The first movie that comes to my mind if you ask me to recommend one would definitely be “Cherry Blossom”, which is directed by a female German director Doris Doerrie. I was so intrigued in this movie that I watched it three times and moved to tears every time I watch it.
First of all, the pictures in the movie are so beautiful, from the Baltic See and corn flower in Germany to the Fuji Mountain and splendid cherry blossom in Japan, from the neat German country family to the prosperous metropolis in Japan, from the special powder make-up to the butoh dancing, every picture is full of artistic and poetic charm.
The plot, although not complicated, contains the deepest feeling of human being in everyday life. It gives you a deep thought on the attitude towards dream and death; it also describes the sticky but deep relationship between the old couples as well as the children with their parents, which is both contradictory and harmonious. Without any heavy or intricate plot, you can feel naturally the deepest issues of life: the love, dream and death.
Without many beautiful or popular movie stars, the actors in this movie performed naturally, smoothly and full of charming, which let the audience forget it’s a fictional movie.
So just let the vital sensibility and the emotion of the movie touch you and come into you.
