Like watching a commercial for adopting asian kids
I never wrote reviews on IMDB. But this one is so bad it's ridiculous. I mean when I watched the first few seconds where it shows robots race with human in dash I know it's gonna be bad but my god not this bad. The whole movie is like an article that's never been proofread: full of typos and syntax errors. No logic whatsoever, from big to small, and nobody in the production of this film seems to care. A country capable of building advanced AI but can't build any military whatsoever. US sending a bunch of underequipped amateurs to the most important military mission. No one speaks English in that Asia country but one man suddenly does so our guy can conveniently hijack his car. A bunch of men with rifles behind covers fall short in firepower to one man with a pistol. A portable explosive size of a bowling ball can destroy a tank size of a three floor building. All these things hurt my brain so bad. The whole story is predictable, boring and it doesn't create tension whatsoever cuz you know the kid will never be harmed. The acting is mostly horrendous that I simply don't care about any character. The hard sci-fi part, from vehicles to weapons to planes, everything screams low budget. Last but not least, they seem to be very conflicted in how to portray Republic of Asia. You would think this Republic of Asia which allows human coexisting with robots is some type of utopia dream country. But nooooooo. For the most parts, it's today's Southeastern Asia with underdeveloped rural or religious area plus some sci-fi stuff that are completely out of place. They replaced the farmers with robots, yet still managed to make these robots look like farmers with that funny looking head that's shaped like a bamboo hat. The stereotype is so deep that even being robots still connects them with underdevelopment and poverty. There are some scenes showing very advanced city landscape. But those long shots just don't match what's in the city. One looks clean like Elysium the other looks messy like Blade Runner. Very different vibes. Plus they are never realized to the intended effects and simply don't go with the other parts. As a Sci-fi fan, I have to say not everyone has the capability of creating a future world this big from head to toe. Just focus on small details and let the audience see the big from the small. Do a couple things well is better than do a million things all so badly.
