Ok so why do gay stereotypes need to mirror Pride and Prejudice?

The rigid structure to pay homage to Jane Austen makes the movie so hard to follow. One moment it's 21st century liberal view to sexuality, one moment it's 19th century doctrine of class and family grace.

It works when Renee Zellweger is Elizabeth and Colin Firth is Mr. Darcy. It does not work when Bowen Yang is Jane, and who the fxxx does Joel Kim Booster think he is? Elizabeth Bennet in a Korean body? & Don't get me started on that hand written letter Will, or shall I say Mr. Gaycy, gives to Noah/Elizabeth... Can it be anymore conveniently pretentious?

Love is universal, sex is liberating, and all people shall have equal rights, straight, gay, lesbian, trans or whatever. BUT I'm sorry romance has very high threshold. Not that this cast is ugly but it really takes a lot of character work to reach that heart felt magical point. Romance is not achieved if you take everybody from a Jane Austen novel and turn them gay. It's just lazy writing.

Ok so Billy Eichner you better do a good job on BROS. All eyes on you now. Otherwise this Gay Rom Com genre will start and die in this already depressing year 2022.
