Honestly,I didn’t take this movie for serious at the first time. The only reason I saw it is Eva Green.Yes,the “Eva Green”,she is such a mysterious and sexy stunner.But I didn’t expect for the movie itself too much.I thought it was only a stereotypical story about jealousy or discrimination against some talented and goodlooking new comers which we can see a lot from those movies about boarding school for girls.
But I am wrong.It really touches me!If I regard it as a masterpiece is far too over-praised,it still definitely can be put on the list of the greatest movies I’ve ever seen.
If the movie is not only about jealousy and discrimination,then what does it really want to convey?In my view,it’s about courage to turn your dream into reality and discovering yourself.
We all have dreams and desire which maybe sound impractical and even ridiculous to others.We are always building a fantastic and idealized world in our mind. Maybe it is because the real world frightens us or because we can hardly see any hope of our dreams,we just don’t want to step out from our fantasy world.In this world we feel safe and comfortable,in this world every dream can com ture.We drown,we lose our guts.
Another way to avoiding the real world is to find someone to be our “spiritual mentor” who accomplishes the things we are longing to do .We treat our “spiritual mentor” as god and can not stand for other people to doubt or to despise him/her.The mentor is our faith and the only truth,we believe in everything he/she does.We find someone to rely on,but we actually lose ourself.
So this is what I love about this movie.It rouses me that what a coward I am.I stuck in my fantasy and have no guts to venture out!But if I don’t step out and give it all away ,dream can only be daydream.I also get used to finding someone to lead me,just like Gerard or Audrey Hepburn.I can admire what they’ve done and admit that they do have impacted me a lot.But how can I forget I am the only person who get responsibility to take care of myself!Only I can get ahold of my own life!
Leaving ,leaving my mental safty area,leaving my so called spiritual mentor,that’s the only way to become “me”.
