Plot Summary:This is the story of the Tokyo Trial - the international military tribunal that opened in May of 1946 to prosecute the Japanese leaders for war crimes. It was supposed to dot the I's and cross the T's, just like the Nuremberg Trial did for Nazi Germany. But instead, it ended up in a tangled mess. This is the story of how, why and where it went wrong.
東京大審是「文明的制裁」或「勝者的報復」？ 在1931年到1945年這14年間，日本一共換了16名內閣，總計20名外相、15名金融大臣、15名首相、12名戰爭部長和9名海軍部長。整段時期的權力結構只有一個不變的常數，那就是天皇。－－然而，偏偏這場大審，絕對不能碰的，就是天皇。 東京大審於開庭818次，法庭紀錄4.8萬餘頁，出庭作證的證人達419人，出示文件證據4000多件，判決書長達1213頁，但最後天皇全身而退，默默地結束了。這場沒完沒了的審判與其說是為了追究戰爭責任，毋寧是戰後大國擴展勢力的工具，也影響了戰後日本的發展。
