Plot Summary:As a commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the opening of TV Asahi, a total of 36 episodes were broadcast from April 16 to December 24, 1979 (Showa 54). Based on \"Ako Roninshi\" by Jiro Obutsujiro, Kaneto Shindo was in charge of composing the entire script. Yorozuya Kinnosuke played Oishi Natsusuke following the movie \"Ako Castle Severance\" released the previous year and the Misonoza performance in Nagoya, and became one of the hit roles of his life. In addition, he was selected to play the lead role in \"Yoshimune Reputation Record: Abarenbo Shogun\", which began broadcasting in January of the same year, from Takuto Asanouchi, played by the young Ken Matsudaira, who was beginning to gain popularity, to Kira Uenosuke played by Eitaro Ozawa, Hayato Hotta in the original play played by Masakazu Tamura, and Kumonojinjirou played by Isamu Nagato, the right roles are cast in every nook and cranny of the supporting cast. The many famous episodes of Tadashinzo are carefully depicted, and the heavy music of Toru Takemitsu that colors them is added, making it one of the best films in the many Tadashinzo video adaptations.\n\nIt is the year of Genroku 14 under the reign of the fifth Tokugawa Shogun, Tsunayoshi (Nakamura Katsurao). Asano Ueshogashira (Matsudaira Ken), the lord of Ako Castle in Banshu, who was appointed to serve as a host to the imperial envoy, was repeatedly humiliated by Kira Uenosuke (Ozawa Eitaro), the chief of the high family who served as his advisor, and was finally attacked in the pine hallway of Edo Castle. Ueshogashira was forced to commit seppuku on the same day, and the Ako clan confiscated his fiefdom and eventually surrendered the castle. Oishi Kuranosuke (Manya Kinnosuke), the feudal lord of the castle, decides to avenge his lord's death. However, Hyobu Senzaka (Akira Yamamura), a retainer of the Yonezawa clan, whose lord is Tsunanori Uesugi (Yuki Meguro), the eldest son of Kira Uenosuke, is alarmed and sends Hayato Hotta (Masakazu Tamura), a ronin under his command, Kumo no Jinjuro (Isamu Nagato), a grand bandit, and Osen (Yutaka Nakajima), a kunoichi, to investigate the movements of the Ako Ronin.
徳川五代将軍綱吉(中村嘉葎雄)治下の1701(元禄14)年。勅使饗応役に任じられた播州赤穂城主・浅野内匠頭(松平健)は、指南役の高家筆頭・吉良上野介(小沢栄太郎)から度重なる恥辱を受け、ついに江戸城松の廊下にて刃傷に及ぶ。内匠頭は即日切腹となり、赤穂藩は領地没収、やがて城も明け渡しとなる。城代家老・大石内蔵助(萬屋錦之介)は主君の仇討ちを決意するが、吉良上野介の嫡男・上杉綱憲(目黒祐樹)を城主とする米沢藩の家老・千坂兵部(山村聰)は、これを警戒し、配下に抱えた浪人・堀田隼人(田村正和)、大盗賊の蜘蛛の陣十郎(長門勇)、くノ一のお仙(中島ゆたか)に赤穂浪士たちの動きを探らせる……
